Microsoft Teams no longer works on my Mac

The Teams desktop app only works on the three most recent macOS versions. No Mac from 2012 to 2017 reaches them.

What it means

Microsoft supports Teams on "one of the three most recent versions of macOS". With macOS 27 out, that's 27, 26 Tahoe and 15 Sequoia. In July 2026 Microsoft already blocked the app on macOS 13 Ventura with a screen that stops you using it.

Mac (newest macOS it takes)Does it install?
2012 (10.15 Catalina)No
2013–2014 (11 Big Sur)No
Mac mini 2014, 2015 (12 Monterey)No
2017 MacBook Pro (13 Ventura)No

What you can do

  • Free: Teams in the browser (teams.microsoft.com). Microsoft supports it on the latest three versions of Firefox, which still run on all these Macs.
  • Install Linux: Microsoft offers Teams in the browser and as a web app for Linux.

If you want to keep using this Mac with everything up to date

Linux is a free system that still gets updates on these Macs. With it you get up-to-date Chrome and Firefox, Office in the browser, LibreOffice and security patches again. The ResucitaTuMac Kit installs it for you with a wizard (in Spanish), without sending the Mac anywhere: you can keep macOS alongside and choose at power-on.

It's for Intel Macs from 2012 to 2015 and the 2017 MacBook Pro without Touch Bar. One-off payment of €24.99.
